It is important for The Green Shelters to share with you the tips of men and women like you, aiming for a better quality of life and a balanced lifestyle.

Today, we have the pleasure to share with you the tips of Ainara, a Spanish woman living in Madrid, married, mother of two kids and working in Digital Marketing.

I had the chance to meet Ainara last winter during our yoga and detox retreat in Winter and ski detox retreat and since then she has joined some of the workshops that I have organized in Madrid for the last few months. It is always very rewarding to see our clients come back and to witness their evolution towards a healthier lifestyle through the different activities that we propose.

1. Your healthy rituals 

  • I exercise on a regular basis, concentrating on flexibility and suppleness.
  • I try to get 8 hours of sleep every night.
  • I try to keep a balanced diet, avoiding processed food as much as possible and including lots of vegetarian dishes. 

2. Your healthy beauty tips

  • I keep well hydrated, which is key for healthy skin.
  • I also use a hair mask made from argan oil, rich in beneficial nutrients, it works wonders for my hair. 

3. A healthy dish you like to cook

Since I’m not a great cook, I mostly prepare myself healthy salads for dinner. A great snack that I love is avocado on toast with cilantro and lime, which I discovered in the Healthy Snacks workshop organized by The Green Shelters in Madrid back in May. 

4. How do you unwind and relax after a hectic day ?

I’ve got two kids so my days are usually quite intense! Whenever I get the chance, once the kids are in bed I prepare myself organic green tea and wind down with a good book.

5. Your experience and opinion about detox

My most recent detox experience was at a The Green Shelters retreat in the French Alps last winter which made me more aware about my diet and my health. I genuinely believe that one’s health should be a priority, so I try and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Detox is also an essential part of this process and the French retreat gave me some useful tips on how to place more emphasis on it and maximise the benefits.

6. A natural remedy

Milk with ginger, honey and turmeric works wonderfully for keeping body defenses high. My husband introduced me to this drink and I now love it!

7. A few tips

Eat healthy, make time for exercise and keep stress levels under control. Sounds simple, but with our busy lifestyles, we often forget to remind ourselves of the importance of wellbeing.  

8. Your guilty pleasure

Dark chocolate! I allow myself to indulge from time to time, as a treat!
