It is important for The Green Shelters to share with you the tips of men and women like you, aiming for a better quality of life and a better life. For them, as for you, it is not always easy to make it due to a frantic daily life. Most of those who tell us their habits have joined one of wellbeing escapes, detox & yoga retreats, an urban workshops or a healthy cooking class with the aim of leading a healthier lifestyle.

Today, we have the pleasure to share with you the tips of Monti, a spanish woman living in Madrid and working in the consulting industry whose biggest passion is travel. Her urban and often exhausting lifestyle, made her understand longtime ago that she must take care of herself on a daily basis and from time to time make a wellbeing escape for a true body and mind break. It was during one of her breaks that we had the pleasure to welcome Monti in two of our retreats this year, first in our retreat in the gorgeous portuguese region of Alentejo Detox & Yoga retreat in Portugal and more recently during our winter and ski retreat in France Winter and ski detox retreat.

1. Your healthy rituals

  • I practice Pilates two times a week at lunch time.
  • I also swim once or twice a week.
  • The Green Shelters retreats I joined during the last few months were a great motivation to start practicing yoga on a regular basis. I practice Hatha yoga once a week in the evening, a part from the days when I have too much work at the office. The yoga gives me a lot of calm and serenity.
  • Once a week, I apply a green clay mask to revitalize my skin and the results are incredible.

2. Natural beauty tips

  • I drink a lot of water all day long.
  • During a few weeks period, every morning, I have a glass of warm water with some lemon juice for a mild detox.
  • Every morning, I have a japanese green tea (Japan Gyokuro Asahi).

3. A healthy dish you like to cook

A delicious homemade pumpkin soup.

4. How do you unwind and relax after a hectic day ?

I put on my running shoes and go a long walk in the Retiro parc. Afterwards, when I get home I do some stretching while I listen to the relaxing music of Ludovico Einaudi.

5. Your experience and opinion about detox

The first detox retreat that I attended at The Green Shelters was based on a vegetarian diet with delicious and varied dishes together with a variety of juices, smoothies and infusions which gave me a lot of energy and vitality.

The naturopath of The Green Shelters who took care of me during the retreat gave lots of tips to eat better. After the retreat, I made significant changes in the way I eat and also decided to do a detox for 3 days every 3 months having nothing but cold press green juices and infusions. I am very happy as I have doing it for the last few months with the frequency that I intended. I feel the benefits in my whole body and a bigger level of vitality, which helps me stay motivated to keep doing it for a long time and maybe forever.

6. A natural remedy

Very often around 11 am, I drink a fresh cold press juice that I do myself with spinach, celery, green apple, parsley, ginger and cucumber to boost my vitality. This green juice is an amazing source of vitamins and minerals.

7. A few tips

  • Some breathing exercices. A few minutes are enough.
  • I always put on sun cream spf 50. It is very important for me to take good care of my skin, in order to avoid aging and the main rule is to protect your skin from the sun.

8. Your guilty pleasure

Black chocolate.
