Renewing yourself

07/29/16

We often believe we are the way we are and no deep transformation can occur. This belief is not true. We are beings of habit and conditioning and once we realize this, we can change whatever thought pattern or characteristic that no longer serves us.

By banishing thoughts such as “I am like this”, “I am + adjective” we create space to explore the unlimited facets of our being. Our conditioning trained us to react or be in a certain way. However, it does not define us. It is just something we were taught.

The same concept applies to our habits and routines, generally created out of fear of unknown and desire for more control. This is why if we carry the same beliefs and do things in the same way, we well create the same set of results. If the latter no longer suits us, one of the parameters needs to change.

The easiest one to alter is self labeling and identification. Take advantage of these less stressful months of summer to explore yourself beyond who you believe you are. Stop labeling yourself and allow yourself to go beyond the adjectives and sense the vaster space of who you are.
